Character Description

Tomoka is a cheerful cheerleader who enjoys lifting other people's spirits. She is as energetic as ever, always full of cheer. She enjoys being a source of happiness and believes it to be a truly special power that she has. She always sports a long, single ponytail, even after an onsen bath. When practicing her cheers, Tomoka can even go overnight without feeling too tired.

Tomoka is close friends with Yoko Saito and Itsuki Manabe, altogether known as Heat Up Cheers. She is also friends with Noriko Shiina, Midori Mizuno, Yuko Hori, and Nagisa Aino, under the name Ponytail Maiden Alliance.

In the tie-in Cinderella Girls Theater skits, Tomoka is a friendly cheerleader with endless energy. She is very diligent in her lessons, and takes her cheers very seriously. Her devotion for cheering not only goes to her performances, but also as an audience member for her fellow idols’ events as well, sometimes even off-time activities. During a pajama party, Tomoka interacted with Chieri Ogata, after Chieri confessed about how her own pajama feels tight, to which Tomoka responded that Chieri might be in her growth. She likes the scarf Mayu Sakuma gave the Producer. She later went to go cheer on Yoko and Itsuki with Risa Matoba and Yuu Ohta. Tomoka’s cheerfulness carries over into her art style, proving she can draw cute cats with ketchup. Tomoka finds Yuka Nakano well-suited for cheering, with her karate moves giving advantage to this. When cleaning up a pool for a photo shooting session, Tomoka splashed water on Nao Kamiya by accident in her attempt to make a small rainbow. After the pool was cleaned, Tomoka discussed with Hitomi Niwa, Minami Nitta, and Shino Hiiragi regarding their photo shooting preparation. Tomoka proposed an idea for a ghost house performance in which she, Rina Fujimoto and Yoriko Furusawa would jump to each attendee and cheer on them, to which Yoriko responded that the idea is no different than "cheering on guerillas midtown". Tomoka has trained Shiho Makihara, Reiko Takahashi, and Miyabi Tsukimiya to cheer in preparation for an event. When Itsuki had a difficulty solving a Rubik's cube from Yoko, Tomoka cheered on her, which received a praise from Yoko regarding the unit.

Fan Culture

Tomoka is nicknamed Wakibayashi ("waki" means armpit in Japanese) by fans, as most of her cards feature her with bare armpits. Her fanart mostly features these as well.
Apart from Heat Up Cheers and Ponytail Maiden Alliance, Tomoka is also commonly depicted with the unit Cheerful Bombers, which consists of her, Akane Hino, and Yuki Himekawa.
