SideM Idol File

Reasons for Becoming an Idol: Don't ask obvious crap like that, it's so I can become the strongest, duh!

Personal Motto: I'm the strongest, obviously!

Comments for the Future: I ain't got the tiniest bit of interest in idols. But for me to reach my rightful place as the super-strongest, defeating that pipsqueak is my goal...no, maybe, my duty? Yeah, that sounds about right. Whether it's idols or fighting, I aim for the top!

Comments about Unit Members: Comment? Don't ask me for annoying shit like that, idiot. Pipsqueak's a pipsqueak, Ramen Guy's a ramen guy. That's all there is to it... What, am I "boring" you? I'll make you cry!

Character Description

Ren is an extremely arrogant and egotistical young man, using oresama (the great me) as his personal pronoun, calling himself "the world's strongest prodigy", and directly referring to Producer as his servant. His physical abilities are very high and he exceeds at dancing, being able to perform difficult choreography with ease. Similar to Miki Hoshii, his innate talent causes him to be very lax and prone to skipping out on lessons, but when appealing to his ego or comparing him to Takeru, he is easily motivated.
Despite his athletic skills, he does poorly academically, something that former teacher Michio Hazama is determined to help him with. He also seems to be somewhat shy when it comes to dealing with girls and romance scenes.

Many details of his past are shrouded in mystery. When he was younger, he seems to have garnered a fair amount of attention for his martial arts skills, even being featured in a magazine. His only known family is his father, who was shown briefly in a dream sequence during the Twilight Railroad Live event, scolding a young Ren for recklessly picking fights. He appears to be estranged from his father during the events of the game, and his determination to become the strongest is theorized to stem from this relationship.
His exact birthplace is unknown, only stated to be overseas. Despite this, he has a Japanese name and isn't known to speak any other languages. He also doesn't seem to have a fixed address, only stating "The Earth is my address!".

He is particularly belligerent towards fellow unit member Takeru Taiga, due to an incident before their debut when Takeru accidentally punched Ren while practicing jabs in the street. He believes Takeru, who he calls chibi (pipsqueak), is the one person he cannot lose to and constantly tries to get in competitions with him, often resulting in childlike quarrels between the two. He calls Michiru Ramen-ya (Ramen Guy, lit. Ramen Shop) and can often be seen begging him for food.
Despite his harshness, Ren has demonstrated that he cares about his unitmates, going out of his way to cheer Takeru up at one point, saying it would be meaningless if Ren won against him when he's downtrodden.
