Character Description

According to her first Starlight Stage Memorial commu, Mayu first meets Producer by bumping into him in a hallway. As she fell on the floor, Producer asked if she was okay and reached his hand out to help her up. Producer left thinking nothing important happened, but it was an occurrence that would change Mayu forever. In that moment, she believed that she found her soulmate. Mistaking common courtesy for an act of true affection, Mayu realized that this was the person who would be her "one true love." A few days later, Mayu finds and calls out for "Producer-san," even though he hadn't even knew her name yet. She tells him that she's been waiting for him since they first met and wants to know if Producer remembers her. Producer doesn't, so Mayu introduces herself and then states she wants to be produced by him. During their first encounter, she just finished a photoshoot for a lolita magazine. When Producer asks why a model like her would want to be an idol, Mayu tells him that she just wants to see him. Mayu immediately quit her job after their first meeting as it felt like a "fated encounter." From the second she looked into his eyes, she knew it was a call from destiny. Her only reason for becoming an idol is to be produced by her "fated one." To seal the deal, Mayu asks if Producer would take her hand. Doing so, Mayu says to herself that "they'll always, always be together" as she begins her journey as an idol hand-in-hand.

A hopeless romantic taken to extremes, Mayu is a cutesy ex-lolita model who quit her previous job on a whim after what she thought to be a "fated encounter" with the Producer. She speaks in the third-person, referring to herself as "Mayu." Mayu believes that the red string of fate ties them together and strives to become his finest idol so they won't have to spend a second apart, outright admitting to not having any interest in idoldom itself. Despite not having initial interest in being an idol, she practices singing and dancing earnestly so that Producer can see the best side of her. Due to her prior experience of being a reader model, she is accustomed to activities like photoshoots and meeting with fans. After doing a job, Mayu always begs Producer to praise her and shower her with compliments. As a result of her infatuation, she often dotes on the Producer by fixing his tie, making him food, and mending his clothes amongst countless other tokens of appreciation. Mayu always asks for nothing in return, as Producer's presence is enough to satiate her. When starting her idol journey, she started to wear a ribbon on her left wrist to remind her of her "wish" and to absolutely make it come true.

Though some people believe that Mayu has ill-will towards other idols, she does not see them as her competitors in love. When Producer is absent, she acts like a normal girl. Mayu gets along with others easily and is a dependable girl who looks out for her fellow idols. Other idols often remark how cute Mayu is and look up to her fashion sense and model aura. Mayu often talks to her fellow idols about clothes and work, but somehow the conversation always shifts to the subject of Producer. It's habit when another idol mentions where Producer is for Mayu to leave the conversation right away and go out and seek him. When other idols talk to or give gifts to Producer, Mayu doesn't get jealous or feel insecure. In fact, she believes in destiny to the point where she's self-assured that Producer will exclusively be hers in the long run. Thus, she doesn't worry. Some idols are even aware of her infatuation with the Producer, but they don't pay it any mind as it's just a harmless crush (to them). Additionally, Mayu would never harm her fellow idols in the name of love as she believes she's already won.

While she may act quite normal whenever the Producer is not around, as soon as he enters the room, all of her attention instantly shifts to him. Her gaze becomes locked onto him and she focuses on his every mannerism and move. If Mayu is alone with Producer, she often likes to talk to him about their "destiny" and how it will be fulfilled one day. When Mayu is in this mode of utter infatuation, the highlight from her eyes disappear and her gaze becomes inescapable. When she's doing something that concerns Producer (such as making him food or knitting him something), an internal switch flips inside her head that makes her locked onto the task she's currently doing. During this, Mayu enters a trance-like state that causes her to only think about the Producer, often forgetting to eat or drink. When the task is done, she doesn't recall the amount of time that has passed or even remember doing the task in the first place. Though she is madly in love, she would never do anything harmful to the Producer. Some of the outlandish things she's done for love include: sneaking in the agency in the middle of the night to use Syoko's mushrooms for her bento for Producer, locking Producer in a dungeon to tell him a story about a princess who kept the knight she loved under lock-and-key, immediately leaving the women's onsen after hearing that Producer was in the men's indoor bath, and keeping track of Producer's weight daily to make adjustments to the bento she makes him amongst other things.

Mayu is shown to be on good terms with other idols, particularly befriending Hinako, a fellow daydreamer that shares the same feelings towards the Producer. She is also close with the members of Under the Desk, Nono and Syoko. She first met them as she wanted to share the space under Producer's desk where Syoko grows her mushrooms and Nono hides to ruminate about her life. After some time occupying the same space, they become close friends and often meet under his desk to socialize with each other.
