Jupiter is a unit in THE iDOLM@STER series. It was introduced in THE iDOLM@STER 2. Its members are Touma Amagase, Shouta Mitarai, and Hokuto Ijuuin.

First announced at the Tokyo Game Show on September 18th, 2010, it was another one of Takao Kuroi's projects to defeat 765 Production; utilizing male idols instead of female idols. Much like Project Fairy, another unit of 961 Production, Jupiter was also tricked by President Kuroi into believing 765 Production was corrupt. They debuted with the song Alice or Guilty in the costume "Blackish 961SP". A later song, Koi o Hajimeyou, was also sung by the group in addition to a new costume: "Weiss Jupiter".

After the events of the anime, Jupiter broke away from 961 Production and joined 315 Production.

History

In THE iDOLM@STER 2, Jupiter appeared as a rival group, with its members especially focused on crushing 765 Production's idols. This was because of all the lies of corruption and cheating that President Kuroi had told them about 765 due to his rivalry with their president, Takagi. This did not stop until Kuroi's lies were revealed after a loss against a 765 unit when Jupiter came to the realization that 961 Production were the ones that were corrupted and operating in the wrong way.

Following their defection from 961 Production, they performed as freelancing idols for a year, constantly getting offers from companies eager to capitalize on Jupiter's popularity. They reject all of them, but cannot shake off the advances of one Takashi Saito, president of the then small 315 Production. Eventually, they agree to sign on for 315 due to Saito making clear that he wants to focus on what Jupiter feels is right moving forward.
